Job summary

Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Senior Healthcare Support Workers (Band 3) to join our Adult Orthopaedic Wards within Surrey Surgical Centre. The post is based at Ashford Hospital’s Elective Centre, with duties across Ashford and St Peter's Hospital as needed.

The role is full-time with long days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Essential criteria include NHS HCSW six months' experience and Care Certificate; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Essential: Functional level of English and Math; Care Certificate in Acute Care.
• Desirable: Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including hygiene, continence, nutrition and mobility needs.
• Take and record vital signs; identify and escalate changes in patient condition.
• Provide one-to-one observation for high-risk or vulnerable patients.
• Undertake ECGs, Venepuncture and cannulation and other competencies as trained.
• Escort patients to departments such as X-ray.
• Keep department and equipment clean and restocked.
• Train and support new and junior team members.
