Job summary

Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Workers for its Emergency Department at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey.

The post offers full-time, part-time and flexible hours with shifts including nights, weekends and public holidays. The role involves direct patient care, vital signs assessment, observation for high-risk patients, and training in skills such as venepuncture, cannulation and ECGs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a health care support worker in an acute setting
• Having successfully achieved the Care Certificate
• GCSE Maths and English

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including meeting hygiene, continence, nutrition and mobility needs
• Take and record patients' vital signs and escalate changes accordingly
• Provide one-to-one observation for high-risk or vulnerable patients
• Undertake training and competencies such as ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation
• Escort patients to departments such as X-ray
• Transfer patients needing admission to a ward and manage patient property
• Keep department and equipment clean, tidy and restocked
• Train and support new and junior team members
