Job summary

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology department at Stepping Hill hospital. You will lead day-to-day operations and support the 24/7 rota when required, ensuring accuracy and high-quality service.

The role requires HCPC registration and specialist Haematology qualifications, with a focus on training, quality systems and continuous professional development.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• Specialist portfolio in Haematology and Transfusion or MSc is essential.
• Quality management training and CPD evidence are expected.
• Training qualification (train-the-trainer) is preferred.
• Experience with ISO15189 and UKAS accreditation is desirable.
• Experience with Anticoagulation services is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational management of the designated Haematology section.
• Act as Lead Training Officer for Haematology, including Coagulation.
• Provide specialist technical advice and staff training support.
• Ensure compliance with ISO15189, MHRA regulations and IBMS training status.
• Demonstrate leadership and effective communication within the team.
