Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Basingstoke invites applications for an HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory as laboratory training lead. You will work with the senior team to manage a range of procedures that support diagnosis, treatment and patient care.

The post involves leading training, supporting development, running analysers and preparing blood films, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with policies

Qualifications

• HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist is required.
• Masters degree or equivalent in Blood Sciences.
• Experience as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 7).
• IBMS portfolio acquisition experience desirable.
• Line management or training officer experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Associate Practitioners and registered BMS in Haematology & Blood Transfusion.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations ensuring standards defined by UKAS and MHRA.
• Develop and deliver staff training and IBMS portfolio development.
• Prepare specimens, run automated analysers and blood films as required.
• Maintain records and ensure adherence to departmental policies.
