Senior Ground Investigation Lead – Infrastructure Projects

Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a senior Ground Investigation Engineer to lead from site on large-scale projects across the UK. You will manage field operations, supervise teams, ensure SHEQ compliance, and coordinate with project management and clients.

Flexibility exists for location within the UK (Warrington, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff or Glasgow) with work across the country. A strong background in ground investigation and NEC4 is essential.

Qualifications

• Lead engineer on large-scale ground investigation projects.
• Experience supervising engineers and multiple contractors.
• Minimum of 5 years' field experience.
• Knowledge of NEC4 contract management, early warnings and compensation events.
• Strong health and safety and risk management, including budgetary and technical considerations; construction phase plan documentation essential.
• SMSTS preferred.
• Stakeholder management and strong communication skills.
• Working towards professional membership and chartership.
• Rail/Highway/Energy sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Site management including supply chain coordination and procurement.
• Field-based work across the UK with strong SHEQ focus.
• Leadership and coordination of site teams and programme management.
• QA/QC of soil and rock logging to British Standards and in-situ testing quality.
• Commercial reporting to the project manager and input into compensation events.
• Stakeholder liaison.
• Produce project outputs and ensure compliance with Arcadis standards.
• Develop relationships with the Project Manager and client.
