Job summary
Clifton Search is assisting a global software/telecom/content/media group in Newcastle upon Tyne by hiring a Senior Sole Counsel to lead the legal function for a newly acquired unit. The role is standalone and highly autonomous, reporting to the CEO in a multinational group.

Qualifications
- UK-qualified solicitor with senior/lead experience.
- Extensive software/tech industry exposure.
- Strong negotiating skills on high-value international contracts.
- Experience in data protection and privacy/compliance matters.
- IP portfolio management and licensing knowledge (SaaS/IaaS/PaaS).
Responsibilities
- Provide full legal leadership across the newly acquired entity.
- Negotiate and lead on a wide range of commercial contracts.
- Oversee international contracts and cross-border regulatory issues.
- Guide AI/ML regulatory strategy and data privacy compliance.
- Manage IP portfolio and licensing for software products.
