Job summary

COWI in the United Kingdom seeks a chartered geotechnical engineer to join a dynamic team delivering ground engineering designs for rail, tunnelling, infrastructure and energy projects. You will mentor junior staff and ensure design conformity with Eurocode 7 and UK annex codes, while overseeing project delivery on time and budget.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Chartered status (CEng, CGeol, or equivalent).
• Strong technical skills in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
• Extensive design experience on rail, tunnelling, infrastructure or energy projects in the UK or internationally.
• Experience in multidisciplinary project teams and delivering projects.
• Knowledge of Eurocode 7 and UK annex design codes.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and Designer's risk assessment.
• Excellent teamwork and communication; ability to mentor others.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Production of ground engineering designs, assessment and checks including calculations, reports, drawings and specifications.
• Supervising and developing less experienced engineers and technicians.
• Ensuring designs meet Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice.
• Assisting with bids and business development opportunities.
• Overseeing project delivery to time and budget with high quality and sustainability.
• Developing and maintaining client relationships and identifying business opportunities.
