Job summary

Balfour Beatty VINCI is seeking a Section Foreman to lead and coordinate teams on a major Midlands civil construction project in Coventry. You will oversee daily site activities, manage subcontractors and ensure work is delivered to programme, budget and safety standards.

You will mentor foremen and operatives, drive safe systems of work, read engineering drawings and support continuous improvement on the job site.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering major infrastructure, civil engineering and earthworks projects.
• Strong leadership and people management skills to lead teams of foremen and operatives.
• Excellent communication skills to clearly convey safe systems of work and site requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Right to work in the UK to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, mentor and coordinate Section Foremen, Junior Foremen, Gangers and Operatives to achieve high standards of performance.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise daily construction activities to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
• Deliver works in accordance with programme requirements, budget constraints, engineering specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to maximise productivity and resource utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with permits, site procedures, temporary works requirements and project management systems.
• Oversee material movements, stockpile management, classification and reuse strategies in accordance with project requirements.
• Ensure earthworks activities are delivered in compliance with engineering specifications, method statements and quality requirements.
• Coordinate remediation, drainage, foundations and associated groundworks activities where required.
• Lead and support accident, incident and close call investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and monitored.

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Location:

Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes

Key Accountabilities:

• Extensive experience delivering major infrastructure, civil engineering and earthworks projects, with a proven track record of safely delivering complex construction activities to programme and budget.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to lead, motivate and develop Section Foremen, Junior Foremen, Gangers and Operatives.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate the requirements of safe systems of work and ensure they are understood and followed.
• Demonstrates ownership, accountability and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
• Ability to work on own initiative, identify opportunities for improvement and proactively resolve issues.
• Proven experience managing subcontractors, multiple work fronts and interdisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, earthworks models, construction programmes and method statements
