Job summary

Aztec Group in Southampton is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to carry out routine day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of fund structures under the direction of a Financial Reporting Manager. You will bookkeep funds, prepare statutory financial statements, respond to investor queries, and liaise with auditors.

Additionally, you will perform bank reconciliations, maintain eFront/Excel working papers, ensure timely payments, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified with a relevant professional qualification (ACCA Professional/ACA Advanced level in progress).
• Comprehensive knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience in preparing statutory financial statements.
• Experience in reviewing statutory accounts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience mentoring/training junior staff is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Bookkeep a complex range of funds, management companies and fund structures.
• Prepare periodic financial statements, investor reports, and respond to queries.
• Liaise with auditors and intermediaries for routine queries.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain robust controls.
• Maintain records on eFront and Excel working papers for accounting tasks.
• Ensure timely payment of invoices and other payments.
• Mentor junior staff under supervision of senior staff.

If you are passionate, curious, innovative and data driven, you could still be a good fit. **About the role:** **Reports to the Financial Reporting Manager** The purpose of this position is to carry out routine day-to-day accounting of fund structures under the direction of a Financial Reporting Manager. **Key responsibilities:*** Bookkeep a complex range of funds, management companies and associated fund structures* Complete all aspects of accounting matters for a portfolio of fund structures, including the preparation, reconciliation and proofing of investor reports, statutory financial statements, and ad hoc investor queries* Deal with the completion of routine audit queries and liaise with clients and intermediaries* Prepare periodic bank reconciliations and provide supporting documentation evidencing transactions are completed within a robust control environment* Maintain accurate records on eFront and Microsoft Excel working paper schedules for all aspects of accounting* Ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices and other payments* Act as a mentor to junior staff under the supervision of senior staff **Skills, knowledge, expertise:*** The candidate will be expected to be at least part qualified with a relevant professional qualification (preferably having commenced ACCA Professional level or ACA Advanced level)* Comprehensive knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS* Experience of the preparation of statutory financial statements is essential* Experience of reviewing statutory accounts* Proficient in the use of Excel, new systems and software* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential* Previous experience of training, coaching/mentoring of junior staff is advantageous* Prior industry experience in Fund Administration is highly desirable We understand that everyone has different needs, and that’s why our employee package includes a variety of benefits.
