Job summary

Databricks in London is seeking Senior Forward Deployed Engineers. You will own architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end data, AI, and application solutions on the Databricks platform for enterprise customers.

The role is hands-on and customer-facing, requiring collaboration with engineering, product, and field teams to deliver scalable, production-grade systems with strong customer empathy.

Qualifications

• Experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering/full stack development.
• Proficient in Python, Scala or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks.
• Experience across two cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with depth in one.
• Deep distributed computing experience with Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• CI/CD knowledge for production deployments.
• Familiarity with MLOps and ML/AI models and APIs.
• Design and deployment of scalable end-to-end data architectures and apps.
• Experience delivering tech projects with measurable outcomes.
• Strong documentation and whiteboard skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn new tech.
• Travel to customers about 20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Production Solution Delivery: lead projects delivering production-grade systems and reference architectures.
• Transformational Impact: guide customers in end-to-end big data design, build, deployment.
• Empower Customers: advise on architecture and drive adoption of Databricks.
• Own the Architecture: lead secure, scalable design aligned with customer needs and best practices.
• Collaborate with Databricks team to ensure delivery meets requirements.
• Provide feedback to product teams and support for rapid issue resolution.
• Customer Immersion: embed with customer teams and stakeholders to understand challenges.
