Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineering - Architect to lead production-grade data and AI solutions for customers in London. You will own the architecture, guide design decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and app development.

The role blends hands-on engineering with strategic customer impact, requiring strong programming, cloud, and big data expertise, plus outstanding empathy for client needs.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Strong coding skills in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks.
• Experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Familiarity with MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Ability to lead architecture decisions and deliver production-grade solutions.
• Experience in technical project delivery with scope, timelines and outcomes.
• Excellent documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Production Solution Delivery: Lead impactful customer technical projects by delivering production-grade systems, designing and building reference architectures, custom applications and data ingestion and ML/AI model integration.
• Transformational Impact: Guide strategic customers in end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI applications; scope technical delivery with input from the customer.
• Empower Customers: Guide customers on architecture and design; bootstrap or implement projects for adoption of Databricks.
• Own the Architecture: Lead architecture decisions, ensuring secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and best practices.
• Collaborate with Databricks team to ensure engagement components are delivered to meet customer needs.
• Provide product and implementation feedback with rapid resolution for engagement issues.
• Customer Immersion: Embed with customer teams from ICs to executives to understand challenges and drive impact.
• Scale: Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices across accounts and roadmap.
