Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to own architecture and lead end-to-end delivery of data, AI, and application solutions for customers in London. This client-facing role combines engineering depth with business impact, driving design decisions and production-ready implementations.

The ideal candidate blends data engineering, AI, and software development expertise, with strong communication to executive stakeholders and a willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications.
• Experience delivering technical projects with clear scope, timelines and measurable outcomes.
• Excellent documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management.
• Curiosity and adaptability to new technologies for Databricks-based solutions.
• Willingness to travel to customers 20% of the time.
• Databricks Certification preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade solution delivery including architecture, reference architectures, data ingestion and ML/AI model integration.
• Guide transformational big data projects end-to-end from design to deployment across data engineering, AI, and applications.
• Embed with customer teams and stakeholders to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Lead architecture decisions to ensure secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with Databricks technical teams, project managers and customer teams to meet engagement goals.
• Provide product and implementation feedback to engineering and support for rapid issue resolution.
• Develop reusable accelerators, frameworks and best practices that scale across accounts and influence the product roadmap.
