Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer - Architect in London, hybrid work model. You will own architecture, lead design decisions, and deliver full-stack data and AI solutions for enterprise customers.

The role blends hands-on engineering with customer-focused strategy, ensuring secure, scalable results while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has strong data engineering, Spark, and ML/AI experience, and can translate complex concepts into actionable

Qualifications

• Strong years experience in data engineering, data platforms or software engineering.
• Proficient coding in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and one in-depth.
• Deep experience with Spark and distributed computing concepts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments and MLOps basics.
• Ability to design/deploy end-to-end data architectures combining pipelines and ML models.
• Experience delivering technical projects to enterprise clients; strong documentation skills.
• Willingness to travel ~20% and Databricks certification preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade solution delivery, reference architectures, and data ingestion and ML/AI model integration.
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build, and deployment of data and AI projects.
• Architect and align solutions with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, project managers, and customer teams to deliver outcomes.
• Provide feedback to product teams and assist in rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver measurable impact.
• Create accelerators, frameworks, and scalable assets for broader adoption.
