Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking a Senior Advisor in Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling to support and assure complex flood modelling across multiple delivery teams. You will lead technical work, coach colleagues and collaborate with the Evidence Services and FCRM Directorate to deliver high-quality risk assessments.

You will communicate complex modelling concepts clearly to non-experts, drive improvements in methods, and help shape risk-informed decisions for customers and partners.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge and technical leadership in flood modelling and hydrology.
• Experience in building hydraulic flood models in a fluvial setting and GIS software packages.
• Experience in data processing and management, and GIS software.
• Mentoring and coaching skills with commitment to development.
• Ability to work independently and in teams to make decisions and solve problems.
• Excellent communication skills, especially for non-expert audiences.

• Influencing and persuading skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and assurance for complex flood risk modelling projects.
• Support 6 Fluvial Delivery Teams and contribute to methods, training and skills development.
• Collaborate across Evidence Services and FCRM Directorate to share knowledge and best practices.
• Mentor colleagues and promote a culture of inclusivity and high-quality outcomes.
