Job summary

AECOM seeks a Senior Flood Modeller to lead hydraulic and water quality modelling across UK projects. You will guide junior staff, develop proposals for local authorities and water companies, and ensure outputs meet programme and budget requirements.

The role offers hybrid working from the UK with opportunities to work on high-profile projects and develop technical offerings for flood risk management and water infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Evidence of significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software (such as Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller and/ or TUFLOw)
• Demonstrable knowledge of Environment Agency requirements in preparing flood models for flood risk assessments.
• Basic understanding of physico-chemical water quality and the associated regulatory standards for fresh waters.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline
• Obtained or near to obtaining professional qualification with CIWEM or similar.
• Practical knowledge of scripting programmes such as Python, Anaconda, Ruby would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Develop and check hydraulic models to support Flood Alleviation Schemes, Flood Risk Assessments and reservoir studies.
• Develop water quality models using industry-standard software.
• Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches with risk-aware thinking.
• Undertake hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP.
• Lead and input into tenders and contracts.
• Mentor staff within the team to support development.
• Build relationships with clients and other disciplines.
• Keep up-to-date with legislation and guidelines affecting services.
• Use project management systems to deliver outputs on time and budget.
• Collaborate with engineers and specialists to deliver flood risk projects across water networks
