Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Flood Risk specialist to join the Water Consultancy Division in the UK, delivering flood risk assessments, economic appraisals, and reservoir studies across projects.

You will mentor junior staff, develop business cases, and work in a hybrid model with a diverse, inclusive team. This role offers opportunities to grow across water, hydraulics, and climate resilience sectors.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering flood risk management studies including option appraisals per EFER/GLA guidance.
• Experience preparing business cases for funding Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk management.
• Degree-level qualification in hydrology, geography, economics, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline.
• Good communication and written skills; well organized with minimal supervision; health, safety and environmental focus.

Responsibilities

• Undertake and check economic appraisals for Flood Alleviation Schemes and reservoir flood studies.
• Prepare business cases to secure funding for flood and coastal erosion projects.
• Conceptualise and scope hydraulic modelling approaches; produce high-quality client reports.
• Mentor/train junior staff throughout project delivery and client interaction.
