Job summary

Amey is seeking a Principal Flood Modeller/Engineer to lead a dedicated modelling team across Scotland, based in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The role involves delivering complex flood management modelling and design, guiding project teams, liaising with clients, and driving innovative engineering solutions.

You will oversee concept design, model development, and project delivery while ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and governance procedures.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable high-level experience within flood modelling and design, likely from a Senior Modeller role.
• Experience producing technically sound engineering solutions meeting standards and client requirements.
• Experience with Infoworks ICM, FloodModeller or HEC-RAS.
• Experience in health, safety and welfare under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
• Knowledge of governance procedures in a consulting engineering environment.
• Bachelor or Master degree in an appropriate subject.
• Chartered status with a professional body and post-graduate flood risk project experience.
• Accredited training manager with a relevant professional institution.

Responsibilities

• Develop effective concept design solutions that are consistent with the project brief.
• Undertake a wide range of modelling work on all aspects of the functions design and maintenance.
• Implement effective, value-for-money and innovative modelling design solutions to meet technical and project requirements.
• Progress projects through preliminary and detailed modelling design with emphasis on client requirements and innovation.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations.
• Supervise, mentor and develop team members from senior modelers to graduates.
• Assist with contract preparation together with project planning and programming.
• Project administration reporting to the Project Manager including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets.
• Support the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts.
• Inspection work, feasibility studies, cost estimating for works and fees.
• Development of engineering solutions and presents engineering options.
• Complete performance appraisals with direct reports and provide learning and development opportunities.
