Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced flood forecast modeller and hydrologist to join the Sustainable Water Management team in the UK. You will deliver real-time flood modelling projects, mentor colleagues, and contribute to bids while collaborating with national and international teams.

You will combine technical leadership with client liaison, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to safety policies. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of UK flood forecasting techniques, rating review, Flood Modeller, PDM and performance testing.
• Experience carrying out reviews and calculations to satisfy UK statutory bodies (EA, SEPA, NRW or DfI).
• Strong commercial awareness with ability to identify and develop business opportunities and prepare winning proposals.
• Track record of leading and winning work with clients.
• Excellent report-writing, numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Chartership with a relevant professional body or commitment to pursue within a defined period.
• Experience and flexibility to review non-real time modelling is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical delivery for flood forecast modelling including Flood Modeller-based models and defining hydrology boundaries.
• Undertaking quality assurance and independent technical reviews of reports and products.
• Producing high-quality client- and public-facing deliverables and presenting visualization of complex data.
• Collaborating with leadership to further develop flood forecasting service offerings.
• Mentoring and providing technical support for junior flood forecasting modellers.
• Supporting (and leading where appropriate) bid proposals and innovative client solutions.
• Providing project, commercial and financial management for projects.
• Liaising with clients and stakeholders.
• Upholding a 'safety first' attitude in line with policy.
