Job summary

QinetiQ is seeking a Principal Engineer at its Bristol site to provide Flight Physics Rotary Wing input into multi-disciplinary projects, aligning with customer requirements.

You will evaluate aircraft performance, handling and Flight Control Systems, and mentor junior colleagues. The role supports 37 hours per week at Bristol, with flexibility to base at Farnborough or Boscombe Down, and requires SC clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• First degree in Science or Engineering with professional qualification.
• Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer.
• 5–10 years post-graduation Flight Physics experience, preferably in advice, research and consultancy.
• Knowledge of military aerospace Rotary Wing platforms and Civil regulations.
• Experience with UK military and defence customers.

Responsibilities

• Analyse Flight Physics data within the Rotary Wing domain.
• Make sound engineering and technical judgements based on the analysis of Flight Physics data.
• Apply Flight Physics principles and concepts to a range of work in the domain.
• Evaluation and testing of aircraft performance, handling and flights.
• Evaluation and testing of Flight Control Systems, Engine Control and Air Data Systems.
• Mentoring junior team members within the department.
