Job summary

QinetiQ Limited in Amesbury (Boscombe Down) is seeking a Principal Engineer - Flight Test Systems to ensure access to flight test systems, instrumentation, telemetry, and data acquisition capabilities for safe and rapid flight test delivery. You will report to the Head of Flight Test and work within the Aviation Engineering Centre.

You will develop system architectures, lead technology demonstrations, and advise on instrumentation and telemetry to support trials and aircraft training aids across

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge and experience of flight test systems gained by working as part of a team delivering complex flight test programmes.
• Knowledge of integrating flight test systems in certified and non-certified aircraft and accuracy requirements.
• Experience with flight test system architectures, hardware and software.
• Knowledge of data acquisition systems such as ACRA Curtiss-Wright and Safran Heim.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a roadmap for flight test systems capability.
• Monitor availability and performance of flight test systems and identify opportunities for enhancement.
• Identify, evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
• Lead or support technology demonstrations, trials and capability development activities.
• Advise on instrumentation architectures, measurement techniques, telemetry, and data acquisition.
• Provide technical advice to Flight Test Organisation and AEC project teams.
