Job summary

BB7, a CERTANIA group company, is seeking a Principal Fire Safety Engineer to lead high‑stakes fire-safety projects in Scotland. The role combines senior technical work with client advisory and team mentoring, based from Glasgow or Edinburgh on a hybrid basis.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience in fire-safety engineering, fire strategies, and modelling, plus professional affiliations such as IFE and Chartered status or active application.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in fire-safety engineering and design.
• Experience leading client relationships on technically complex projects.
• Strong ability to develop and review fire strategies and technical advice.
• Chartered Engineer status or active application preferred.
• Excellent written communication and ability to explain technical issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of fire-safety engineering projects from early design through to completion.
• Develop, review and sign off robust fire strategies and technical fire-safety advice.
• Oversee fire-engineering analysis and modelling where appropriate.
• Advise clients and design teams on complex fire-safety, compliance and risk issues.
• Provide clear recommendations balancing safety, quality and project realities.
• Manage project scope, quality, programme, commercial performance and client relationships.
• Review technical work and mentor engineers to develop the team.
