Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer/Technical Lead to deliver complex fire engineering designs across sectors, from inception to completion. Based in Reading, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers and build strong client relationships.

You will perform CFD modelling, assess fire safety strategies, and ensure compliance with standards such as ADB and BS EN 15004.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, structural, civil or similar).
• Postgraduate fire engineering qualification (certificate, diploma or Masters).
• Professional body membership or recognition.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality fire engineering services across sectors.
• Prepare fee proposals and manage projects from inception to completion.
• Lead project teams and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
• Perform CFD analyses and fire safety assessments.
• Stay updated on fire safety standards and best practices.
• Support business development through client relationships.
• Aim to drive efficiency and continuous improvement in delivery.
