Job summary

Utopia Living is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own financial controlling across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You will build processes for new projects, ensure accurate accounting operations, and lead timely reporting with strong controls in a fully remote setup.

You will supervise junior staff, coordinate audits, and deliver analyses for strategic decisions as the company expands across continents and diverse markets.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in financial control or accounting.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
• Big-4 exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations for multiple entities across jurisdictions.
• Supervise day-to-day accounting and monthly close.
• Maintain strong financial controls and budget process.
• Prepare consolidated monthly management reports with Head of Finance.
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors.

About the opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of financial controlling from the ground up, as Utopia operates across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You'll build financial processes on new projects, ensure the accuracy of accounting operations, and own timely reporting and financial controls across the business.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations for multiple entities across different jurisdictions, including monthly financial reporting
• Supervise day-to-day accounting activities to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely closing
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls across all entities
• Manage cost control and own the budget approval process
• Design finance control processes, then continuously optimise them for greater efficiency and scalability
• Prepare consolidated monthly management reports in partnership with the Head of Finance
• Prepare and review regulatory reports in collaboration with external advisors
• Train and mentor junior finance specialists, supporting their professional growth and technical development
• Coordinate external audits and act as the main point of contact for auditors
• Deliver ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions
• Respond promptly to finance-related questions and requests from the CEO and wider team

• 5-7 years of experience in financial control, finance and accounting or treasury
• Knowledge of IFRS
• Experience with supervising, mentoring or leading junior finance associates
• Comfortable working fully remote
• English — advanced or fluent
• Work experience in BIG-4 (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPGM)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fast learner, comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage external consultants and legal advisors effectively

• Spanish or Russian or Ukranian language speaking skills
