Job description

Outskirts of Milton Keynes | 4 days office-based

An exceptional opportunity to lead, transform and make a genuine impact within a mid-to-large-sized, complex and growing organisation.

Eutopia Search are exclusively partnering with a leading UK organisation experiencing an exciting period of growth, investment and significant change to appoint a Group Financial Controller.

This is far more than a traditional financial control role. It offers the opportunity to take ownership of a sizeable function, modernise systems and processes, develop a high-performing team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Group Finance.

Reporting directly to a forward-thinking Group CFO, you will have the autonomy, visibility and support to drive meaningful transformation across a substantial, multi-entity business.

The Opportunity
  • Lead and develop a team of 15 people, including three key direct reports, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance.
  • Oversee all aspects of Group Financial Reporting and Month End Close, while maintaining robust control and compliance frameworks.
  • Take ownership of statutory accounts, Group consolidations, audit, tax, treasury and financial governance across a large and complex multi-entity structure.
  • Drive significant finance transformation, reviewing and improving processes, systems, reporting structures and internal controls.
  • Support the continued growth and evolution of the business, ensuring financial reporting, controls and processes remain robust, efficient and scalable.
  • Lead the external audit process across multiple entities, acting as the primary liaison with auditors and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and best practices.
  • Partner directly with the Group CFO on cash management, financial governance, risk and key financial projects.
  • Deliver meaningful financial insights to senior leadership, supporting commercial and strategic decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with external advisers, including auditors, tax partners and other professional services providers.
  • Build a more efficient, commercially focused and high-performing financial control function.
Who Are We Looking For?

We are particularly interested in speaking with ACA or ACCA-qualified finance leaders with a strong audit background, ideally trained within a Top 10 accountancy firm, who have subsequently developed substantial financial control experience within mid-to-large-sized, complex organisations.

Experience within a multi-site business would be particularly advantageous, especially across sectors such as retail, hospitality, leisure, healthcare or other operationally complex environments.

You will ideally bring:

  • A proven track record as a Group Financial Controller, Financial Controller or senior financial control leader within a sizeable, multi-entity business.
  • Extensive experience of statutory reporting, Group consolidations, technical accounting, month-end reporting and managing complex external audits.
  • Proven success in leading finance transformation, improving systems, processes, reporting and financial controls.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and challenge teams through periods of significant change.
  • Experience working within a growing or evolving organisation would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with senior leadership and stakeholders across the business.
  • A genuinely hands-on approach. We need someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves, getting into the detail and solving problems, while maintaining the strategic perspective expected of a senior finance leader.
Why Consider This Opportunity?

The real attraction is the scale of the challenge, the direct exposure to the Group CFO and the opportunity to influence genuine change.

You will be joining a substantial, growing organisation at a pivotal stage in its development.

With strong senior leadership, continued investment and an ambitious transformation agenda, this is an opportunity to shape, improve and build a finance function, rather than simply maintain existing processes.

We are looking for someone who combines technical excellence, strong leadership and the energy to make things happen.

The Package
  • Bonus: 20% discretionary
  • Car allowance: Additional to base salary
  • Location: Outskirts of Milton Keynes
  • Working pattern: 4 days per week in the office
  • Reporting directly to: Group CFO

If you're an ambitious, technically strong finance leader who enjoys developing people, challenging existing processes and driving meaningful change, I would welcome a confidential conversation.
