Senior Finance Business Partner required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 6-9 month contract, paying £450-600 a day, inside IR35, hybrid working.
Job Description:
To work as an integral member of the supported business senior leadership team, proactively identifying, planning, and meeting the finance needs of the business to improve performance, in coordination with the wider finance team. To challenge senior leaders, budgets, and business activities to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Consolidate, review, and provide technical advice on financial results and forecasts, identifying risks, opportunities, and efficiencies to minimize financial and legal impacts.
- Provide recommendations and guidance on accounting standards to ensure compliance.
- Oversee periodic accounts, analysis, and business plans to support effective decision-making.
- Understand and influence cost and income drivers to deliver the business plan and manage budgets.
- Coach and challenge senior budget holders on their results and forecasts for better business management.
- Challenge budget submissions and suggest cost-saving initiatives.
- Manage KPIs and deliverables, highlighting issues and trends to aid decision-making.
- Lead financial performance meetings with budget holders to provide advice and ensure governance.
- Collaborate on investment decisions and new business opportunities to enhance performance.
Essential:
- Membership or working towards membership of a relevant accounting body (CIMA/ACCA/ICAEW) or equivalent experience.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across all levels.
- Experience in a complex financial environment, managing risks, controls, and planning.
- Proven budget management and financial analysis skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations with sound decision-making.
- Excellent technical financial and accounting knowledge.
- Degree in accounting, finance, business management, or equivalent experience.
Desirable:
- Full membership of a relevant professional body.
- Experience with Oracle systems.
- Experience across multiple finance disciplines.
- Knowledge of government accounting and financial governance.
- Project management experience with complex projects.
