Overview

Service Care Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a London-based Local Authority for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will lead and manage the business partnering team supporting various Council services with comprehensive financial expertise.

Line management of 3-6 FTE staff.

Main Responsibilities

1. Monitoring and forecasting budgets
2. Providing technical financial advice on areas such as Schools, Capital Projects, Grants, and HRA
3. Preparing accurate, timely reports on financial issues and performance
4. Conducting data analysis and options appraisal to support informed decision-making
5. Setting budgets and financial planning
6. Managing year-end processes, including notes to the accounts and audit evidence
7. Staying updated on financial regulations and legalities relevant to the public sector

Candidate Criteria

1. Qualified CCAB/CIMA Accountant with extensive experience
2. Experience in account closure, budget planning, and financial management within a Local Authority
3. Proven experience providing expert financial advice across multiple service areas
4. Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret key data for decision-making
5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
