Job summary

The Norwich BioScience Institutes seeks a Senior Maintenance Technician to lead planned and reactive maintenance across essential building systems, including HVAC and BMS controls. You will mentor apprentices, deputise for the supervisor, and drive compliance with safety and statutory standards.

You'll work within the Facilities Maintenance Operations Team to ensure reliability of critical systems supporting scientific research, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors as needed.

Qualifications

• Proactive problem-solving and mentoring for apprentices.
• Lead incident response and recovery efforts.
• Essential knowledge of statutory compliance (L8, PSSR, electrical standards).
• Experience in planned and reactive maintenance of building systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform Planned and Preventative Maintenance on HVAC, BMS, plumbing, electrical and lighting systems.
• Respond to service calls, diagnose faults, and repair building systems.
• Monitor and adjust HVAC and BMS controls; liaise with specialists for upgrades.
• Support compliance checks and maintain records for audits.
