Job summary

The University of Cambridge is seeking an experienced Building Services Technician to oversee plant and related services for modern research facilities in Cambridge. You will manage planned and reactive maintenance, operate plant and mechanical equipment, troubleshoot, and perform minor works across the site.

You will support preventative maintenance schedules, repair and install building services, and maintain large research equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience in installation or management of mechanical and electrical services in a research or similar facility.
• Strong understanding of plumbing, heating and ventilation systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Building Services Technician to provide an efficient and reliable service; overseeing all plant, and related services for a modern research facilities across Cambridge.

The role holder will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance as part of a small team, which will include operation of plant and mechanical equipment, troubleshooting, and minor works services. The role holder will assist in preventative maintenance schedules and to repair, install and service the building's mechanical services. There will also be aspects of maintaining large research equipment related to the role. As a result of this the role holder will be required to have a diverse understanding and skills in plumbing, heating and ventilation. A good general understanding of all aspects of building services will be an advantage.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic building professional with a proven track record in installation and/or the management of mechanical and electrical services in a similar environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and continuous operation of the biofacilities and equipment within which are necessary to carry out the research and experimental procedures.

A level standard of education/ qualification equitable to HNC/HND, level 4/5 vocational qualifications or an equivalent level of practical experience is essential.

In addition to the base salary stated above, the successful candidate for this post will receive an additional 2.5% supplement to their pay.
