Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in one of the busiest and most high-profile communications teams in Whitehall? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

About The Team
HM Treasury's Communications team is responsible for all communications conducted by HM Treasury and its Ministers.

We are a fast-paced, encouraging and lively team, working collaboratively across the different aspects of communications (press, digital, events). The roles are high-profile and you'll be given a large degree of ownership for your areas. The team is a flexible resource and you'll need to be ready to support colleagues during busy periods as responsibilities can move around to reflect Government priorities.

About The Role
Our Events and Visits branch work flexibly and collaboratively to deliver a comprehensive Ministerial visit programme across the UK and internationally. We are looking for a Senior Events and Visits Manager to join us and play a direct role in delivering high profile, media-led events for Ministers.

Key accountabilities:

  • Plan, co-ordinate and lead on high quality media events and visits for Ministers, including the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in order to deliver policy and communication objectives. Lead on visits/events on a rotating basis and provide support to other team members when needed.
  • Work in a team and individually to identify, recce and advance venues ahead of Ministerial visits, both in the UK and internationally, planning and delivering visually engaging press events.
  • Travel with the Chancellor of the Exchequer/Ministers to ensure that they are well supported and briefed, that logistics and media operations are successfully implemented and risks mitigated.
  • Work closely with Ministers, Special Advisors, Private Office and policy colleagues from within the Treasury and across government.
  • Manage key collaborators from a variety of sectors across industry to help support future visit opportunities.
  • Support the Head of Events in developing a strategic programme of events that is well coordinated with Treasury and Ministerial policy priorities.
  • Line Management responsibility may be required, depending on needs of the team

About You

Our ideal candidates will be skilled at establishing strong working relationships across a diverse group of colleagues. You’ll have strong time management and organisational skills, be able to work independently and to a high quality, while keeping key collaborators updated. You will also be adaptable and flexible when faced with challenges, able to identify and mitigate risks. Lastly, a good understanding of government, public sector, media/journalism or corporate communications is a must!

Some of the Benefits our people love!

  • 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 days after 5 years), plus 8 public holidays and the King’s birthday (unless you have a legacy arrangement as an existing Civil Servant).
  • Flexible working patterns (part-time, job-share, compressed hours).
  • Generous parental leave and adoption leave packages.
  • A Civil Service Pension which provides an attractive pension, benefits for dependants and average employer contributions of 27%
  • Access to a cycle-to-work salary sacrifice scheme and season ticket advances.
  • A Rental Deposit Advance Scheme to help meet the total costs of deposits for privately rented homes.
  • A range of active staff networks, based around interests (e.g. analysts, music society, sports and social club) and diversity
