Job summary

JL Renewable Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to develop and coordinate complex tenders across HV substations, wind farms and electrical infrastructure in Scotland. The role requires strong estimating/tendering expertise within Power & Renewables and the ability to lead cross‑functional teams through the tender lifecycle.

You will review specifications, manage multiple bids, and support negotiations to ensure comprehensive, commercially sound tender submissions.

Qualifications

• Strong estimating/tendering experience within Power, Renewables, Utilities, Electrical Engineering or major infrastructure.
• Experience as an Estimator, Senior Estimator, Electrical Estimator or Tendering Engineer.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and Employers' Requirements.
• Experience obtaining and analysing supplier/subcontractor quotations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and cost plans for major Power & Renewables projects.
• Take-offs based on project scopes, drawings and specs.
• Review Electrical Technical Specifications and Employers' Requirements.
• Support Design & Build tenders across HV substations, wind farms and electrical infrastructure.
• Coordinate tender activity across multiple departments.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify commercial and technical risks within tender documentation.
• Develop pricing strategies for accurate and comprehensive estimates.
• Prepare technical submissions covering inclusions, exclusions, clarifications and programme requirements.
• Manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Attend tender reviews and post-tender meetings.
• Support tender negotiations and clarifications.
• Review feedback from submitted bids.
• Provide detailed handovers to construction and project teams after awards.
