Job summary

SES Engineering Services are seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join the SES Northern team, focusing on high profile, technically complex projects across multiple sectors. The role involves reviewing drawings, producing take-offs, analysing supplier quotes and preparing prime cost estimates, with a focus on risk, value engineering and tender settlement.

You will work with surveyors and project delivery teams, ensuring compliant estimating processes and detailed tender submissions.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, and scopes.
• Producing material take‑offs and labour assessments.
• Requesting and analysing supplier and subcontract quotes.
• Preparing detailed prime cost estimates and tender clarifications.
• Advising on cost risks, alternatives, and value‑engineering options.
• Supporting settlement meeting as well as handover to project delivery teams post‑award.
• Ensure that all estimating processes and procedures are followed to deliver a submission following tender settlement
• Work with surveyors in preparation of quantified schedule of rates and bill of quantities
• Prepare tender summaries and attend start-up pre-price and price meetings
• Assist in preparation for settlement meeting enquiring whether risk register, prelims and labour rates have been done.

About the role

Our Senior Estimators are a valuable part of our business, where they effectively utilise skills, experience and knowledge within a team environment to produce tenders, establish opportunities and prepare competitive estimates.

As our Senior Estimator you will:

• Reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, and scopes.
