Job summary

CDM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Estimator for civil engineering projects in the North East. You will lead tender preparation, review technical documents, and produce accurate estimates while engaging with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

The role requires strong civils estimating experience, knowledge of infrastructure elements, and the ability to manage multiple tenders independently. A clear path for progression is offered within a reputable contractor's pipeline.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within civil engineering/groundworks.
• Strong knowledge of roads, sewers, drainage, earthworks and infrastructure.
• Experience independently managing multiple tenders.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Able to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Relevant civil engineering/commercial qualification or equivalent experience.

Senior Estimator - Civils

Location: North East

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Estimator to join an established civil engineering contractor delivering a range of projects across the North East.

The Role

• Leading the preparation of tenders for civils and infrastructure projects
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes and contract documentation
• Producing detailed and accurate cost estimates
• Managing subcontractor and supplier enquiries and quotations
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering options
• Preparing competitive tender submissions
• Working closely with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
• Supporting the development of tender strategies and pricing
• Assisting with contract negotiations and tender clarifications
• Leading the handover of successful tenders to the commercial and delivery teams
• Supporting and mentoring junior estimators where required
• Maintaining accurate estimating records and cost databases

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within civil engineering/groundworks
• Strong knowledge of roads, sewers, drainage, earthworks and infrastructure
• Experience independently managing multiple tenders
• Strong understanding of construction methods, costs and buildability
• Commercially astute with excellent analytical skills
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities
• Able to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
• Relevant civil engineering/commercial qualification or equivalent experience

Strong civils estimating experience is essential.
