Job summary

Linear Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Estimator for a civils and groundworks contractor. The role focuses on producing accurate tenders from enquiry through to submission, working closely with commercial and operational teams to price projects effectively.

You will review tender enquiries, drawings and specifications, produce bills of quantities and manage supplier and subcontractor quotations, with a proactive approach to value engineering and risk management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator / Senior Estimator within civils, groundworks or infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong commercial awareness with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for civils and groundworks projects.
• Produce bills of quantities and detailed take-offs.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, opportunities and value-engineering options.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare tender submissions and supporting documentation.
• Review project programmes, methodologies and construction requirements.
• Attend tender meetings and site visits where required.
• Support the commercial team with handovers following successful tenders.
• Maintain knowledge of current material, labour, plant and subcontract costs.
• Manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.

We are working with a growing Civils & Groundworks contractor looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Estimator to join our team.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with strong experience in civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure projects who is looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in securing new work. As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders from enquiry through to submission. You will work closely with the commercial and operational teams to ensure projects are priced effectively and deliverable within programme and budget.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, foundations, roads, utilities and associated civil engineering works.
• Excellent ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Experience using estimating/take-off software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and managing tender risks.

Preferred Skills

• Experience specifically within civils, groundworks and infrastructure projects.
