Job summary

Brownlee Cale Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator/Senior Estimator to join our civil engineering team. The role is office-based and focuses on pre-construction tendering across local authority frameworks, with a strong emphasis on first-principles costing and collaborative teamwork.

You will prepare detailed cost estimates from drawings, review tender packages, and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to deliver competitive submissions.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years' experience within civil engineering or construction estimating.
• HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar.
• Ability to price from first principles.
• Experience reading drawings and specifications at tender stage.
• Experience on local authority projects (highways, drainage, bridges).
• Collaborative mindset and ability to mentor others.

Responsibilities

You'll play a key role in the pre-construction phase, producing accurate and competitive estimates from drawings and specifications across a range of civil engineering projects, particularly within local authority frameworks.
