Job summary

MK CONSULT LTD in Oldham is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the estimating function on a range of construction projects across the North West, delivering competitive tenders and helping secure profitable work. You'll work closely with Directors, Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operational teams.

The role requires proven experience as an estimator, a strong grasp of construction methods and contract forms, and the ability to manage multiple tenders to tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator in construction.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, procurement routes and contract forms.
• Experience pricing projects across sectors (commercial, residential, education, healthcare, public sector).
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders to strict deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the preparation of competitive tenders and estimates.
• Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
• Prepare accurate take-offs and cost plans.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering options.
• Attend site visits, tender interviews and pre-start meetings.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, supply chain partners and internal teams.
• Produce detailed pricing reports and tender adjudication documents.
• Support bid submissions and framework opportunities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the pre-construction process.
• Assist in developing relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the estimating function on a variety of construction projects, producing competitive tenders and supporting the business in securing profitable work.

Working closely with Directors, Pre-Construction, Commercial and Operational teams, you will manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
