Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in London is seeking a Senior Estimator to join the Pre-Construction team, leading estimating and tendering for major rail and civil engineering projects.

The ideal candidate has extensive rail/infrastructure estimating experience, hands-on tender management, and strong commercial acumen, with Candy estimating software proficiency and relevant professional memberships.

Qualifications

• Extensive rail/infrastructure estimating experience.
• Experience pricing complex rail or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of rail construction methods.
• Experience managing tenders and coordinating bid teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and technical understanding.
• Proficiency with Candy estimating software.
• Degree qualified; professional membership (RICS/CIOB/ICE) advantageous.

Senior Estimator

Location: London

Salary: Up to £100k + package

I'm currently working with a leading specialist contractor who is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Estimator to join their Pre-Construction team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead estimating and tendering activities for major rail and civil engineering projects.
• Develop competitive bid strategies to secure profitable work.
• Manage tender programmes from initial enquiry through to submission.
• Coordinate internal bid teams and liaise with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
• Prepare tender settlements and lead approval processes.
• Identify value engineering opportunities through design and construction methodology reviews.
• Manage project risk registers and commercial assessments.

Requirements

• Strong estimating experience within rail, infrastructure or civil engineering.
• Previous experience pricing complex rail or infrastructure projects.
• Good understanding of rail construction methods and delivery environments.
• Experience managing tenders and coordinating bid teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and technical understanding.
• Proficiency with Candy or similar estimating software.
• Degree qualified, with RICS, CIOB, ICE or equivalent membership advantageous.
