We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced and talented ESIA consultant with specialist ecological impact skills to work in our London design office. Dar is dedicated to planning, designing, engineering, and managing infrastructure projects, contributing to the sustainable development of communities worldwide.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will join an established team of environmental specialists based in London. They will be expected to lead tasks and support project managers across the company in managing environmental and social issues on a wide range of large infrastructure projects, particularly within planning, urban design, and transport sectors, both internationally and in the UK. The candidate must demonstrate technical expertise and deliver project requirements within budget and on time. Experience with environmental and social safeguard requirements is essential.

Sector and Project Focus

We work across various sectors including, but not limited to:

1. Real Estate and Strategic Planning (city planning, regional planning, tourism development, industrial zones)
2. Environment (utilities, renewable energies)
3. Social Infrastructure (education, health)
4. Transport

Projects span multiple geographies, notably the Middle East, Gulf region, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing support on planning, ESIA/EIA, ESMS, SEA projects, and delivering project tasks to meet client requirements.
• Assessing large infrastructure projects and programmes.
• Supporting business development activities, including proposal writing, project budgeting, developing client relationships, and pursuing opportunities.
• Supervising, managing, and mentoring junior staff, including urban planners and interns.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 5-8 years relevant experience in ESIA/EIA, with a preferable understanding of ecological components.
• Strong report writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.
• Good knowledge of international environmental and social safeguard standards (IFC, WB, EBRD, AfDB).
• Proficient IT skills in commonly used software.
• Knowledge of UK EIA legislation and planning system is desirable.
• Additional language skills (Portuguese preferred, French, Spanish) are advantageous.
