We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced and talented ESIA consultant with specialist ecological impact skills to work in our London design office. Dar is dedicated to planning, designing, engineering, and managing infrastructure projects, contributing to the sustainable development of communities worldwide.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will join an established team of environmental specialists based in London. The individual will be expected to lead tasks and support project managers across the company in managing environmental and social issues on a wide range of large infrastructure projects, particularly within planning, urban design, and transport sectors, both internationally and within the UK.

The candidate must demonstrate technical expertise and be able to deliver project requirements within budget and on time. Experience with environmental and social safeguard requirements is highly desirable.

Sector Experience

We work across sectors including, but not limited to: Real Estate and Strategic Planning (city planning, regional planning, tourism development, industrial zones), Environment (utilities, renewable energies), Social Infrastructure (education, health), and Transport. Projects span regions such as the Middle East, Gulf, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support on planning, ESIA/EIA, ESMS, SEA projects, and be responsible for delivering project tasks to meet client requirements.
• Assess very large infrastructure projects and programs.
• Support business development activities, including proposal writing, project budgeting, client relationship development, and pursuing opportunities.
• Supervise, manage, and mentor junior staff, including outside the Environment team such as urban planners and interns.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least 5-8 years of relevant experience in ESIA/EIA, with a good understanding of ecological components preferred.
• Strong report writing skills, capable of producing clear and concise reports.
• Good knowledge of international environmental and social safeguard standards (IFC, WB, EBRD, AfDB).
• Proficiency in commonly used IT software.
• Knowledge of UK EIA legislation and planning system is desirable.
• Additional language skills such as Portuguese (preferable), French, or Spanish are a plus.
