Job summary

VIQU Energy is seeking a Principal Environmental Consultant to lead Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for highways and infrastructure projects in the UK. You will manage environmental risks, advise on regulatory compliance and support sustainability initiatives across projects.

The role involves collaboration with engineers, project managers and clients, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and help raise environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related subject.
• Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) or equivalent accreditation.
• Strong environmental consultancy experience within highways, construction or infrastructure.
• Good understanding of EIA processes and planning legislation.
• Experience delivering environmental assessments, consents and compliance requirements.
• Strong report writing, project management and communication skills.
• Experience managing budgets, resources and supporting team development.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Experience working on major highways or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of carbon reduction, biodiversity and sustainability initiatives.
• Experience working with regulators, local authorities and external stakeholders.
• Understanding of environmental requirements across design and construction stages.

Responsibilities

• Lead Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) across highways and infrastructure projects.
• Provide environmental advice and support throughout project design and delivery.
• Manage environmental risks, assessments, consents and regulatory compliance.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers and external stakeholders.
• Support carbon reduction, biodiversity and sustainability initiatives.
• Prepare and review environmental reports and technical documentation.
• Manage project budgets, programmes and resources.
• Provide technical guidance and support the development of junior team members.
