Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to lead environmental inputs to project designs across energy, transport, and infrastructure sectors. You will work with a range of environmental specialists and design teams to improve environmental performance on a diverse portfolio of projects.

The role emphasizes bid leadership, project delivery and financial management, and mentoring junior colleagues while promoting sustainable design and health and safety.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in EIA or a related field.
• Chartered status and IEMA membership or equivalent.
• Extensive experience with EIA processes in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of environmental and planning legislation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with attention to detail.
• Experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects (rail, highways, energy).
• Solid project management, including commercial and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental inputs to project designs across sectors.
• Manage bids, project delivery, and financial performance.
• Collaborate with environmental specialists, clients, and engineering teams.
• Promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
• Oversee planning applications, EA/EIA, route optioneering, and stakeholder engagement.
