Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking an Environmental Advisor to support the Great Grid Upgrade on Kiln Lane, with a mix of on-site and field duties across Suffolk and Norwich to Tilbury. You will monitor environmental compliance, conduct audits, and advise site teams on best practices for sustainability in a major infrastructure project.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Environmental Advisor or similar role.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation and standards for large infrastructure projects.
• Experience with in-field environmental monitoring (water samples, noise/vibration, ground investigations).
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 EMS and CEMP requirements.
• Excellent communication and teamwork across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage on-site environmental compliance to legal and company standards.
• Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections in office and field.
• Engage with project managers, contractors and regulators to mitigate risks.
• Provide advice and training on environmental best practices for site personnel.
• Support implementation of environmental management plans and sustainability initiatives.
