Job summary

British Steel in Scunthorpe is seeking an Engineering Planner to lead the planning, coordination and continuous improvement of maintenance across rolling stock, engines and workshop assets. You will manage maintenance plans in SAP, prioritise work and ensure safe, reliable asset performance.

The role requires strong planning, coordination and collaboration with engineers and operations, with a focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in maintenance planning, engineering, asset management or reliability roles.
• Experience with maintenance management systems, ideally SAP.
• Knowledge of asset management and reliability improvement principles.
• Experience coordinating contractor activities and compliance programmes.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Commitment to health, safety and continuous improvement.
• Ability to lead, coach and support engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and continuously improve maintenance activities across rolling stock, engines, pumps and workshop assets.
• Develop and maintain maintenance plans and allocate P1/P2 work activities.
• Manage SHE-critical tasks and oversee work at HRS work centres and planner groups.
• Collaborate with engineers, plant managers and operations to deliver work safely and efficiently.
• Support development of maintenance strategies and monitor KPIs for reliability and performance.
• Provide technical guidance to the engine team and oversee servicing programmes and contractor activities.
