Job summary

British Steel in Scunthorpe is seeking an experienced Electrical Team Leader to guide maintenance and improvement work in the blast furnace area. You will lead craft groups, plan daily electrical tasks, and respond to breakdowns to keep asset reliability high.

Candidates should have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical trades, and proven experience in electrical maintenance within heavy engineering. Training will be provided where needed, and a strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

To be considered, you must be qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a relevant electrical trade or have served a recognised apprenticeship.
Experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding within heavy engineering is preferred.
Ability to adapt to new equipment is essential.
Knowledge of steelmaking processes is beneficial but not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Lead craft work groups made up of internal staff and contractors, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Plan, supervise and execute daily electrical maintenance and improvement tasks to support asset reliability.
Respond to breakdowns and diagnose issues across motors, drives, sensors, PLCs, and related systems.
Work with equipment including motors, drives, sensors, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA/HMI, MCC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gas and water systems.
