Job summary

Laing O'Rourke Expanded Structures is seeking a Senior Engineer to join one of our HS2 projects in Birmingham. The role focuses on leading engineering delivery, implementing temporary works procedures, and coordinating setting out and survey activities on site.

You will work with 3D CAD data and Digital Engineering to produce ITPs and risk assessments, while overseeing a team of Senior Engineers and ensuring adherence to quality procedures.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• Approx. 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity or construction delivery environment.
• Experience implementing temporary works procedures and producing ITPs and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information for Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets.
• Implement and ensure compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects.
• Determine appropriate methods of dimensional control and ensure setting out data is controlled.
• Interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Define scope of as-built surveys to demonstrate compliance.
• Produce and ensure ITPs are created, available and address specification and contractual obligations.
• Ensure project and company quality procedures are adhered to.
• Utilise and recommend best engineering methods for design processes.
• Produce and approve method statements and risk assessments.
• Engage in procurement activities.
• Manage a team of Senior Engineers (project dependent).

Backed by a central technical design and engineering resource, we can deliver the full range of piling, precast concrete, post-tensioning and structures techniques.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Able to utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information to create Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets. Confidence to show other team members.
• Fully implements and ensures compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects. Explains these procedures to others.
• Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control taking advice from specialists where appropriate. Ensure setting out data is controlled.
• Can interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Determine requirement for and format of as-built surveys and reports. Defines scope of survey to demonstrate compliance.
• Produces and/ or ensures that ITP's are produced, available and implemented. Ensures that they fully address specification and contractual obligations.

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering , or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
• Circa 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity
