Job summary

Laing O'Rourke are recruiting a Senior Project Planner to support upcoming Defence & Power projects in Buckinghamshire. This permanent, on-site role requires modelling and 4D planning expertise to deliver robust programmes for reinforced concrete structures.

You will contribute to bid and pre-contract planning, assess risks and opportunities, and lead the planning function on complex schemes, ensuring time-focused delivery and clear client communications.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering.
  • Modelling and 4D planning, as well as Asta or P6 - preferably both to a high standard.
  • Ability to analyse, collate and utilise a range of data and information for reporting and forecasting.
  • Able to ascertain which tasks are urgent or important and the level of accuracy required.
  • Lateral thinker to spot trends/issues in production data.
  • Solid on-site engineering delivery experience, with hands-on involvement in live projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in structural engineering and related construction phases.
  • Experienced in developing programmes from first principles, ensuring accuracy and alignment with construction methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all programmes are compliant with the Project requirements and develop and agree a logical sequence of events ensuring that the most economical/advantageous construction strategy is adopted.
  • Carrying out Pre-Contract planning and Work Winning processes to produce Bid Programmes and associated time related information for tender bids.
  • Analyse performance and advise project team of likely impact and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to risks, opportunities and commercial implications of tender bids.
  • Present time-related material using various techniques; provide clear submission and presentation material.
  • Independently produce processes and systems to manage contracts for complex projects.
  • Carry out forensic analysis of programme data and interface with client teams to build effective relationships.
  • Apply knowledge of contracts to ensure control measures align with contract risk and opportunities.

Expanded are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Planner to support upcoming projects in theDefence & Power sector.

Scope of works: Reinforced concrete structures.

What will the role look like?
  • Ensuring that all programmes are compliant with the Project requirements and develop and agree a logical sequence of events ensuring that the most economical/advantageous construction strategy is adopted.
  • Carrying out in Pre-Contract planning and Work Winning processes and procedures to produce Bid Programmes and associated time related information as part of a tender bid team
  • Analysing performance and advising the project team of likely impact and recommend improvements.
  • Able to contribute to the risks, opportunities and commercial implications of a tender bid
  • Able to present time-related material using a variety of techniques and methods; providing effective communication, high quality submission and presentation material
  • Able to contribute to the risks, opportunities and commercial implications of a Tender Bid
  • Able to independently produce processes and systems to manage contracts for more complex projects
  • Carries out forensic analysis of programme data and interfaces with client teams to build effective relationships
  • Applies a comprehensive knowledge of the different types of contracts to ensure control measures are aligned with the contract risk and commercial opportunities are optimised
  • Develops and introduces advanced project management techniques to the Laing O'Rourke business and establishes them for use on technique and complex projects.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
