Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Senior Engineer to join a Birmingham HS2 project. The role involves using Digital Engineering models to generate Visual Method Statements and ensure TEM works procedures are followed.

You will manage setting-out, ITPs, and as-built surveys, alongside leading a team of Senior Engineers on complex civil works. The position requires a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent and about eight years of relevant experience, with a strong focus on quality and procurement

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or an industry recognised equivalent.
• Approximately 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity.

Responsibilities

• Utilise a Digital Engineering model to produce Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets.
• Implement and explain the LOR Temporary works procedures on projects.
• Determine methods for dimensional control and ensure setting out data is controlled.
• Interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Define scope of survey for as-built documentation and compliance.
• Produce ITPs addressing specifications and contractual obligations.
• Ensure adherence to project and company quality procedures.
• Suggest and apply best engineering methods.
• Oversee design processes and prepare method statements and risk assessments.
• Support procurement activities.
• Manage a team of Senior Engineers (project dependent).

Role & Responsibilities:

• Able to utilise a Digital Engineering model to provide information to create Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets. Confidence to show other team members.
• Fully implements and ensures compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary works procedure on projects. Explains these procedures to others.
• Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control taking advice from specialists where appropriate. Ensure setting out data is controlled.
• Can interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD data.
• Determine requirement for and format of as-built surveys and reports. Defines scope of survey to demonstrate compliance.
• Produces and/ or ensures that ITP's are produced, available and implemented. Ensures that they fully address specification and contractual obligations.
• Ensures that project and company quality procedures are adhered

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering , or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
• Circa 8 years' experience in a Civil Engineering capacity
