Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick, part of VolkerWessels UK, seeks a Senior Engineer / CRE-C to join the Southern Renewals Enterprise in Gravesend, Kent, to support rail earthworks schemes. This role is ideal for an experienced CRE-C looking to advance within a major infrastructure contractor.

You will work within the Earthworks team across Kent routes, mentoring engineers, and ensuring safety and contract discipline on site. An excellent development path is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience as CRE & TWC in Rail, Civil Engineering Groundworks or Structures.
• Mentoring Project and Assistant Engineers on site.
• Managing direct and subcontract works on schemes.
• Ensuring the highest Health & Safety standards on site.
• Good contract understanding; support commercial costs and efficiencies.
• Integrate Civils scope from design to construction; interface with disciplines.
• Write tender scope and technical specifications for Civils works.
• PTS and CSCS qualifications are expected.

Responsibilities

• Mentor Project and Assistant Engineers on site.
• Manage direct and subcontract works on schemes.
• Ensure Health & Safety compliance on site.
• Support the commercial team in cost control and efficiencies.
• Coordinate Civils interfaces from design to construction.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Engineer / CRE-C to join the Southern Renewals Enterprise.

The role will be based from our office in Gravesend, working within our Earthworks team and covering schemes predominantly across the Kent route.

This presents an excellent opportunity for an existing CRE-C to transition into their next challenge, or for someone with extensive rail/earthworks engineering experience to work towards CRE status.

About you

• MEng/BEng/Foundation Degree/BTEC/ Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in undertaking the role as CRE & TWC within a Rail, Civil Engineering Groundworks or Structures environment
• Mentoring Project and Assistant Engineers
• Managing direct and subcontract works
• Ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety are maintained on site
• Good understanding of contracts and providing support to the commercial team in managing costs and maximising engineering efficiencies.
• Managing the integration of the Civils scope of work from the design, into the construction stage and managing the interfaces with other disciplines on the project.
• Writing tender scope, technical specifications for Civils engineering works
• PTS
• CSCS
