Job summary

Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment is seeking a Senior Employment Solicitor to join its team in Manchester or Leeds. The role offers exposure to high-quality matters for a diverse employer client base with clear progression opportunities and a collaborative environment.

You will handle a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment work, including tribunal litigation, disciplinary issues, discrimination and TUPE matters, and provide day-to-day HR and advisory support.

Qualifications

• Applications are invited from solicitors with 5-8 years' PQE and strong technical employment law knowledge.
• Experience advising employer clients on both advisory and litigation matters is essential.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills are required.
• The candidate should be able to manage matters independently and work directly with clients.
• An interest in business development and networking activities is desirable.
• Experience supervising junior lawyers would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Advise employer clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
• Represent clients in employment tribunal litigation.
• Handle disciplinary and grievance issues, discrimination, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal claims.
• Assist with restructuring, redundancy and TUPE matters.
• Draft employment contracts, policies and procedures; provide day-to-day HR and advisory support.
• Engage in client relationship management and business development initiatives.

The Role

The Candidate
