Job summary

Hft is seeking an experienced People Advisor / Employee Relations Advisor to join the People Operations team. The role is hands-on, fast-paced, and focused on managing a high-volume ER caseload with expert employment law guidance for managers.

You will support investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, along with sickness absence matters, while maintaining accurate records and compliant practices.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in an employee relations advisory role with high-volume caseloads.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and applying policies to real-life situations.
• Experience advising on disciplinary, grievance, capability and sickness absence matters.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and advising on next steps.
• CIPD Level 5 or 7 desirable; experience in generalist HR or union-era work would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume caseload of live ER cases from start to conclusion.
• Provide clear, practical, legally sound advice on complex cases.
• Guide managers through investigations, formal meetings, decisions and outcomes.
• Balance competing priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining fairness and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with People Business Partners to ensure consistent ER practice.
