Job summary

Fractile is hiring in the UK for an embedded systems engineer to build firmware and software for rack hardware. You will work on management controllers (RTOS and bare metal) and contribute across bring-up, production deployment, and security.

We expect strong C and/or Rust skills, a safety-conscious mindset, and a bias for observability and recoverable designs. You will collaborate closely with HW and software teams to deliver robust, end-to-end systems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience shipping production-critical, reliable embedded systems across bare metal, RTOS, or embedded Linux.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware and services for management controllers at rack, board, and device levels (RTOS and bare metal).
• Build systems software for board and rack management from bring-up to production.
• Implement critical flows for fleet health: power-on, provisioning, monitoring, updates, recovery, and security.
• Integrate with the host/device stack (drivers and runtime libraries) end-to-end.
• Collaborate with HW and device software teams to define interfaces and create robust boundary solutions.
